  1. Gordon, a really great article, I’ve been building my network on LinkedIn and Twitter much more actively in recent weeks, partly driven by a new years resolution and partly by a recent change in circumstances. And I’m very encouraged that you are recommending all of the tactics (and some new ones) I’ve been employing to engage with potential clients.

I completely agree with your viewpoint that trust and authenticity carry much more weight in sales negotiations these days, and it’s also important to “be seen to be social” by regularly using LinkedIn, Twitter and your blog to engage. Your speakeasy meetings sound great, and I think I can use this to move my networking to the next level.

  2. Excellent blog Gordon , I am new to the social media side of things as a business tool and have had many queries on how to use this effectively. Your insight is very useful and really illustrates social media as an extension of the face to face contact with people that I have traditionally valued. Reading your thoughts and how to use each application properly has really shown me how this can enhance my business networking. It may still take me a while to get up to speed but slowly I am embracing this new world for Eton Jones! Thankyou

  3. One of the best blogs I’ve read in a long while. Everything you write is so true. The values of relationships is being lost. Thnak you for jolting me to re-think what’s important. Regards Jeff
